18 Months

Camille turned 18 months old yesterday, really? I got this idea from another blog, but I'm going to list 18 things about her for her 18 month post.

1. She loves watching Signing Time! She has learned so many new signs lately from this show...it's amazing! Shoe is her favorite!
2. She loves her babies! She rocks, pats, burps and feeds them. She even loves real babies also...but she DOESN'T like me to hold them! Sorry, Coley!
3. Strawberry milk is her favorite drink!
4. She is absolutely fearless! She'll walk down a slide with no fear!
5. Her new favorite song is BaBa. It's on a praise CD we have in the car and it's the verse Isaiah 53:6. At the end it says, "Huh!" and Camille joins in...it's adorable! This is the first time she has ever shown favoritism in a song.
6. Her hair is getting so long! It's almost ready for a cute ponytail! She has also gotten a lot better at keeping bows in her hair!

7. Her favorite book right now is We're Going on a Bear Hunt. She has gotten really good at sitting and listening to a story (especially if it is prolonging naptime). With the bear hunt, she likes to skip to the "tiptoe" page right before we find the bear.

8. She can tell you what a cow, pig, horse, sheep, and cat say. I'm trying to get this on video! The pig is too cute...she doesn't say oink, oink. She scrunches her nose and snorts!

9. She loves playing chase and hide-and-seek! This is the usual game when daddy comes home or Aunt B is around! Sometimes she'll just go sit in our closet, lights off, and wait for us to come find her.

10. For her 18 months check-up (on Friday) we are going back to her original dr from the hospital. We stayed with her through Camille's 6 month visit and are now going back...we've missed her! It's a little bit of a drive...but she's worth it!

11. She loves jewelry and make-up! She'll find anything she can to turn into a necklace. She sit up on my counter sometimes while I put on my make-up and she's figured out the blush thing. She also loves putting on lipgloss and lotion!

12. Nothing beats going outside! If she's ever fussy, take her outside! She loves her cars, bubbles and wagon. I'm looking for a fun sand/water table for her...any ideas?

13. She still screams when I lay her down for a nap. It isn't very long...but it sure is sad to hear!

14. She loves holding money. She gets to put money in the jars at church on Sunday and now she loves carrying it around the house as well.

15. She goes back and forth on being a mommy/daddy's girl. It usually depends on what time of day it is or what we have.

16. She loves doggies! She'll hear them bark outside and stop what she's doing and say, "goggies!".

17. I love to tickle her! She gets so tickled and laughs so hard!

18. She has begun saying "amen" at the end of our prayers.

Earlier this week, Bubbie and Poppa came to town for a few days. Camille loved all the attention and loving she got from them. She also loved watching their 3 dogs play in our backyard! Bubbie took Camille to our little park and she called to say, "You didn't tell me this girl is fearless!". She went to the very top and began walking down the slide, then falling forward and sliding down on her belly...laughing the whole way! She almost gave Bubbie a heart attack! They didn't stay out long.

Today when we drove up Camille said, "Bubbie?". Then she went straight to the back door and looked for the doggies saying, "where go?".

Then, last night we thought Camille would enjoy her first bubble bath! As you can tell in this picture...she didn't! She didn't like getting bubbles on her and not being able to ge them off. She never would sit in them! Funny little girl!

Job Update

Here is my wonderful team of teachers I have loved working with this past year. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be working with them again next year. Our school was way too full this year and the district is cutting several positions at our school for next year. So, I have been accepted to transfer to one of the two brand new schools in the district next year. I will still get to teach part-time kindergarten and I'm so thankful for that! I have known about this move for a few weeks now, but have been trying to get excited about it. I cried when I found out that I would be leaving because I am so sad. All of these ladies are Christian women that I work with and what a blessing that is! I have moved so much in my 6 years of teaching that I was excited to finally be somewhere "for good". Well, things change. So it looks like I'll be Hawk next year. I have been a Yellowjacket, Cougar, Wildcat and now a Hawk. My school t-shirts are piling up in the closet that I can't wear anymore. I do have to say there is still a slight chance I will get to stay at WSES. That is if more students register for kindergarten than they expect or if a position comes open in another grade. Yes, I would rather go full-time than move to another campus! All of this has to happen by mid-summer. Like I said, it's a slight chance that I'm trying not to hang on to very hard.

5k

Through lots of persuading from Clayton, I walked my first 5K this morning. It was the Victory over Violence walk to help benefit a Women's Center. Although 3 miles doesn't sound that bad, I am no where close to being in shape. Clayton was determined to run and I was going to walk. I had agreed to this because it was to benefit a good cause, but closer the day approached I was wondering what I had gotten myself into. We had ocassionally been running/walking around the neighborhood, but this didn't ease my nerves much. I was also originally going to push Camille in her stroller, but after our last walk I scratched that idea. I just imagined her trying to turn around in her stroller whining and wanting me to carry her. So, she didn't make an appearance today and that helped my nerves a little. We had no idea what to expect when we got there this morning. There was a huge turn out and that also helped my nerves. I felt confident I wouldn't be the last to cross the finish line. So the race began and off went Clayton running. I was feeling pretty good along the way and enjoyed a lot of people watching time. What had I been so worried about? I was really enjoying it! I finished in 45 minutes and Clayton finished in 27 minutes. He ran the entire way...way to go, babe! We have decided to make this an annual event for us so who is ready for next year? When we got back to the car, we had 5 more brochures for walks next month. So who knows, this may become a weekend event for us...but probably not! I will admit I thoroughly enjoyed myself so much more than I ever imagined!

After the walk we enjoyed breakfast together at Cracker Barrel...just the two of us!

And then we headed to the soccer fields to watch one of my boys play! He was so excited to see me there. He didn't score any goals, but he sure was working hard out there. His mom told me that this morning when they were getting ready to come to the game they were talking to him about husseling, paying attention, being aggressive and so on and then TH said "and doing good for Mrs. Woods!" I always enjoy going out and watching my students participate in different activities. After the game when I came up to him to tell him good job, he was speechless. He just stared at me with a huge grin on his face like, "Is it true, she's really here at my soccer game?" I love my job!

Sorry no pictures!

Splish Splash!

This past Saturday, Camille and I enjoyed a great indoor waterpark at a resort in East Texas. My cousin, Mallory turned 13 on April 1st and she invited us to her party. They had a sleepover with her mom, 4 friends and my sister on Friday at the resort and had also invited us to that. I think they were glad we didn't come when I told them Camille woke up at 6am on Saturday! So we headed down there with my mom Saturday morning. I just knew Camille would LOVE the water! Well, she didn't exactly love it right away. Since it was an indoor park, it was VERY loud and overwhelming to Camille at first. She held on tight to me and wouldn't even put her feet in a puddle of water. I was so sad she didn't like it. My mom didn't swim and she quickly figured that out so she held on to her for a while since she knew I was trying to get her to get in the water. My cousin Mallory came over to us and started playing peek a boo around a sign and finally got her to get a little brave. She quickly learned how much fun it was and became a dare devil from then on. The park had a lazy river, small wave pool, a great kiddy area with a huge fort and some slides (Camille wasn't big enough to ride those though), and some body and tube rides for adults. We were very impressed with how nice it was. Camille enjoyed it all and loved lying back with her vest on and floating. I can't wait for summer!
